Layer Marney Tower Corporate Event

The Layer Marney Tower corporate open event was a great success.  A selection of Tudor canapés and shots of butter beer were served to representatives from local businesses as they arrived. After a tour of Layer Marney Tower and the conferencing facilities available for seminars and training days, guests were served more canapés by Bouquet Garni.  A display on how to make Tudor Possets followed, pictures can be seen on the gallery page.

 

We received requests for the Posset recipe, so here it is….

 

1 litre Single Cream

250ml Sack (Traditionally this was Madeira but can be any fortified wine)

8 Egg yolks

4 Egg whites

3 Pinches of ground nutmeg

3 Pinches of ground cinnamon

150g Sugar

 

Method:

 

Bring the cream nutmeg and cinnamon to the boil. Mix in the whisked eggs to create a custard. Meanwhile warm the Sack and sugar.  Heat the cream mixture to thicken the custard (do not boil) then add to the Sack, stirring constantly. Pour into bowls or glasses and allow to cool.  

 
Layer Marney Tower- Open Event For Businesses

Layer Marney Tower is holding an open event for businesses on Tuesday 31st March 2009, 6pm - 8pm.

Henry VIII stayed at the Tower in August 1522.

This reception forms part of their celebrations of the 500th anniversary of Henry VIII’s coronation.  There will be time to explore many parts of the Tower and outbuildings, as well as a chance to see some recently completed building projects.

They will also be taking the opportunity to show you some of the meeting, training and conferencing facilities which have been developed over the last five years.

If this date is not suitable they would be delighted to arrange an alternative time for you to view.  You are also welcome to invite or pass on the invitation to your colleagues.
